flex disc?

flex disc?

alright ladies, lets talk about the FLEX DISC!

get it on amazon

this one is for the ladies! men, you might want to skip this one because we’re going to get nitty gritty about the joys of being a woman with periods… * gasp * lol

last week when i posted on instagram stories about trying the flex menstrual disc, i was blown away by the responses & questions. but no amount of stories felt like i could really share as in-depth as i wanted, to really be able to help!

i’ve used a menstrual cup for the last 5+ years and have absolutely loved it. to be honest, i never really understood the idea of the disc. it looked like it would be harder to take out & it honestly looked huge to be sticking up “there” haha. it was time for me to buy a new cup & the flex disc was on sale at target so i decided to give it a try ; and let me tell you… wow. i absolutely LOVE it!

why i like the disc more than the cup :

it’s easier to insert & remove. to insert - fold in half, insert as far as you can. to remove - hook with your thumb & pull out. how easy it was to remove really surprised me!

not having to deal with getting it in right to suction - the disc just slides into place & stays.

beginner friendly - its not scary or hard to understand

the disc, like the cup, is better for the balance in your vagina than a tampon. when i used tampons, i always felt like i was “dry” for the next few days after my period was over. discs & cups don’t dry things out at all.

it self-empties when you use the restroom throughout the day… i’ve been asked “how?" & the best way that i can explain it is that when there is pressure when you use the restroom, it empties the blood in the disc into the toilet bowl while you pee. this means i can take it out & clean once in the morning & once in the evening without having to worry about it getting “full”.

it’s less messy. because of the self-emptying aspect, thee is a lot less blood to empty at the end of the day. honestly, i really just had to wash it, there wasn’t anything to “dump” out, even on the first day of my period which is always the heaviest.

i’ve been told that you can have sex with the disc in (which i personally haven’t tried) but i find that absolutely incredible.

the ONLY downside of the disc compared to the cup, is if you’re hitting a heavy leg day (think squats and deadlifts) due to the self-emptying. if you’re someone who hits those lifts heavy, i would recommend either a cup or using a liner with the disc.

i personally haven’t had any issues with leaking, but did want to note this!

here is a direct link to the reusable flex disc (the one i have) + it comes with a bag for it + 2 disposable discs as well ! FLEX DISC
